Un video de YouTube de la cuenta "El Brasero",  afirma que Jenni Rivera era en realidad una importante amiga del ex líder del Cártel de Sinaloa, Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, y que era adicta al cristal. Esta historia sobre el supuesto lado oscuro de "La Diva de la Banda" despertó el interés del director Francisco Joel Mendoza, quien planea llevar a la pantalla grande la historia que pocos conocen sobre Jenni.

De acuerdo con Tribuna, en 2013, el director señaló que tenía planes de lanzar un filme sobre el oscuro pasado de "La Diva de la Banda", pero surgieron problemas y retrasos, por lo que ahora en 2019 espera mostrar el proyecto.

En el polémico video se pone en evidencia una entrevista en la que Mendoza aseguró que leyó el libro autobiográfico de Jenni Rivera y le pareció muy maquillado, por lo que en la película narrará cosas que ni la propia familia sabe de la cantante.

El director aseguró que invitó al beisbolista Esteban Loaiza a formar parte de la película, ya que considera que el deportista interpretaría muy bien su propio papel cuando fue pareja de Jenni Rivera.

En palabras de Francisco Joel Mendoza en la iniciativa se echará un vistazo al momento exacto en el que la cantante Jenni Rivera perdió el piso tras ganar fama.

El testigo relató cómo vio a Jenni Rivera fumando "cristal´, entre otros estupefacientes; haciendo alusión a su vínculo con "El Chapo".



"El Brasero" puntualizó que lo más oscuro del relato sobre Jenni Rivera es lo que supuestamente hizo Rosy Rivera, quien pidió el 80 por ciento de las ganancias de lo que generará la película y ante la negativa de la producción, la familia de la cantante amenazó con demandar.
